P1ONEERS AT DUTCH CHARLIES REEK

The Creek was small and meandering except during spring flood time.  Then it could be rushing stream with blocks of ice and small trees and uprooted brush. A dangerous hazard for animals and people.

 Being a magnet for children there were cautions drilled into minds but teen agers counted the Creek as an opportunity to impress

Reminders of events and people are daily added to the story of this life even as I consider age 91

Others make so many decisions.

I am thankful for so many who care, especially family .

Since Eunice went on, the sense of being at the head of the line is ever more vivid.  The colored maple leaves out side the window also speak to aging.  Poignant beauty is part of the scene.

Faced With A Next Move

This next major move is from a western Minneapolis suburban region to the central St Paul University Avenue Iris Park region.

Also a move from a series of Presbyterian Homes to a Episcopal Homes Facility.

I am now over 90 Years of age

Letter To Eunice 6/24/19

One of your growing concerns while living at Willmar was the growing Somali population.  You found the Somali people to be so different from midwestern folks.

The clothing and language was  strange to your eyes and ears.  They did not look strangers in the eye. This made you very uncomfortable. Many white people felt that and feel the same way now.

Today there are news stories today about the continuing tension. More on this later.

Letter to Eunice 6-22-19

Did you do much in the outdoors beyond being raised on a farm?  
I know that sports were not for women at that time. However you may have been a free spirit early in life as you came to be later in life.
As I recall we were not much together during free time out in the woods.  Boys were not much trusted with girls alone outside. Farm animals did every thing out in front of children who were curious.
I can imagine your parents cautioning you to steer clear of the boys.

You went off and died a month ago.  I miss you as a child hood play mate and as special letter writer.

Such a candid  writer.  Refreshing!
